28 days of decluttering

According to dictionary.com, the definition of decluttering is to remove mess or clutter from (a place) or to organize and prioritize (one’s commitments, material possessions, etc.). Nothing makes a homebody like me happier than to live in a space that is free from clutter. Every year in February, I participate in a decluttering challenge as a way of grounding myself.

There are so many benefits to living a minimalist lifestyle, such as spending less money on material things, being more productive, contributing to a better environment, having to clean less, etc. I can do an entire post just on these benefits! I practice minimalism because I’m grateful for the things I have — I only have items that are actually meaningful to me and avoid accumulating things for the sake of having them. I’m aware of what overindulging does, and I do my best to stay away from it.

Are you still with me? Let’s participate in the 28 days of decluttering challenge together!

For each day in February, get rid of one item compounded daily; so February 1 is 1 item, February 2 is 2 items, February 3 is 3 items (by end of day 3, that’s a total of 6 items) and so on. By February 28, you would’ve gotten rid of 406 items! This can be literally anything that you feel isn’t valuable or meaningful to you anymore, multiples of things, clothing you no longer wear or fit but are holding on to it ‘just in case’, etc. Get comfortable with letting go and watch how lighter and happier you’ll be!

Are you joining me? Invite others to complete this challenge with us and let me know how it went for you at the end of February!

Sincerely,
SOS
