Growing love: concessions of a proud plant mom

When did calling ourselves plant mom and plant dad become a thing? Whoever started that, you’re my people. I’ve always loved the look of plants around the house, but it wasn’t until I got my first one that I realized how much I enjoy actually taking care of them! I’d say I definitely earned the title “plant mom” at this point.
As you probably know, I moved from Chicago to Naples, FL and while you may think I sold my plants… I absolutely did not. I did a 23-hour drive just because I love my plants and didn’t want to let them go. Some may call it crazy, but listen, if you’re a plant lover then you get it. It’s not even just about how they look, but they also help with breathing and improving air quality. The fact that these beautiful green leaves can actually boost my health is enough to convince me to buy more.
I don’t know if it’s just me, but as someone who does not have kids or pets, I feel like I can still enjoy the act of taking care of a living thing that depends on me and watching them grow. I didn’t always have a green thumb, so whenever I get it right with my plants, it’s truly a sense of accomplishment for me. Just like with anything else in life, practice and dedication results in something beautiful — my plant babies are helping me be a better me.
Are you a plant mom or dad?
